Flurry takes life in s t r i d e. He has a jubilant joie de vivre ~ an exuberance that warms your soul. He is fun loving and the time is always right. He adores people.

Ahoy! - They call me Adams and the word around the water cooler (bowl) is I look plucked straight out of an ad campaign for the Salty Dog Cafe TM - seems those infamous T'shirts sporting their company logo and SD dog, 'Jake', casts a striking resemblance to moi. The similarities don't end there either - like Jake, I too am a survivor, and have used my wits, guile and intelligence to both endure a harrowing shelter experience and ensure my own rescue. So how did I do that? Well, it took a good bit of cunning and a whole lot of charm - traits I admire, traits others desire - which landed me the right side of the shelter door :) You see, I am a black lab mix, happily dosed with shepherd. Happily you say? Pawsitively! I am not a purebred lab, I have the look of one, been mistaken for one, and my countenance is almost there - but my body is more svelte than stocky - my lines slightly more graceful. My breed cross dictates that I will be loyal, highly intelligent, loving, enthusiastic and darn it, flat out endearing when I choose to be - the best of the canine world embodied in ME!!! I haven't let my rescuers down, in fact I think I have exceeded expectations. I rolled into my foster home, settled down nicely into a 6 pack of dogs, awaited instructions. Training began day 1 and continues to this day. I am an avid student and pick up tricks and commands with ease - corrections too! I need to be told ONCE, reminded twice (and maybe again if curiosity gets the best of me). Certain allowances have been made for my 'showboating'. I have been known to showcase my many talents... drumroll please ...

This girl had my heart today. Her funny expressions made me smile and feel warm inside. Plus, she honored me with LOTS of kisses! You know, some dogs have an amazing ability to improve your mood by simply being near. She is one of those dogs. She is arguably the biggest sweetheart of the bunch, calm in nature, mellow and affectionate to boot! Is there someone out there who really needs a bright spot in his/her life? PLEASE consider this very deserving girl.

Charlotte is a very sweet and somewhat energetic dog. Her original foster’s name is Charlotte so she changed her name to Maggie and that is the name she responds to right now. She came to us to be a playmate for another foster we had and it worked out spectacularly!

Maggie is a beautiful girl and just makes you melt when her golden eyes look up at you. She is currently in an environment with 4 other dogs, she gets along great with all of them. However, she is a jealous little girl and horns in on the action if one of the other dogs is getting attention. When she is in the spotlight, though, she is all love. She likes to be petted and cuddled and still thinks she’s a lap dog.

Maggie is medium maintenance and versatile dog. I think she would be better suited in a one dog family since she likes all the attention. But she is still very social with other dogs. While energetic, she does not *require* a large backyard as long as she gets exercise from walking or dog parks. When she is bored, she will demand attention and bring you toys. Her favorite activities are chewing bones and playing with pull toys. Oh, and did I mention that she is a Bug Stalker? Her specialty is flies, she chases them down and when she catches them, yes, she eats them.

She is such a loyal dog, all she needs is a good home with lots of love to go around.

Kiki is a young yellow lab/ golden mix girl whose coat is a gorgeous honeyed golden color, it is soft beyond compare, it feels like silk. She is a silly sweet girl, who has a tendency to be submissive - she adores people and will bow to you when you pet and love on her. She fancies other dogs too :)

Pilot attended his very first adoption day on Sunday and was met with rave reviews. It was the first time I had met him in person and he is downright stunning. He has the statuesque look of a lab and has long lines, limbs and beautiful features. He is picture perfect, completely black from head to toe and makes for one helluva model! Pilot struck a pose and held it even in the unrelenting heat of the afternoon. He is the most handsome boy as his pictures clearly attest, one who definitely has some obedience skills and schooling behind him too. Clearly someone has worked with him before and taught him how to be a canine good citizen. He rode like a champ in my SUV and laid down on command after a quick sweep and sniff of the back. He snuggled up between the head rest when we stopped to gaze out the window but settled right back down into the comfort of the A/C. No attempts to join me in the front seat even without restriction. He will sit again and again beautifully for his treat and well just because I asked him too. He walks like a champ on a lead and accepts pets and pats from everyone he meets. Pilot is a keeper, he is far too beautiful, too poised and too good of a boy to have been dumped in a kill shelter - his second time around will be for keeps. This boy is a joy.

HANDSOME, calm purebred black lab male. Pilot is brand new to ALR and his bio is up next, so please check back soon!
