We want to thank a fellow rescuer for bringing Buddy to our attention, pulling and arranging to meet us in ATL today. And while we had received the above pictures, we were not prepared for the purebred stunner who swept out of the van. After more than an hour ride, this boy was ready to do a walkabout and strut his stuff! Nothing like a captive audience, Buddy drew the attention of dogs and passerbys alike while he held his head high and proceeded to load up for his second ride of the afternoon. Thankfully for Buddy, his second stint was a short 10 minute trip which involved his head out the window and the AC on full tilt! Given his size, I fully expected Buddy to leisurely stretch himself across the bench seat of my SUV, instead he sat like a prince leaning into the window, a practiced posture, a seasoned passenger. I smiled to myself. I think Buddy smiled too. When we arrived at the Vet, he sniffed, sat and offered me his paw. We shook, shook again ~ our bond secure. A flop on the belly, a rub of same and I sealed the deal. There are so many expectations of what a lab should be and Buddy meets and exceeds them all. I left him for his day of beauty and wellness check. I missed him the whole way home, wondered how anyone could ever part with a dog so grand in stature, loving in nature. If he were mine, he'd be my pride and joy. For now, ALR will settle for bragging rights - that's how special he is.
Comments from Rescue upon Arrival...
BUDDY is here! ~ definitely a hunting dog he points at everything and loads up in the car like a champ. He is probably close to 4 yrs old, is great with the other dogs, havent heard him bark yet.
