Pictures and Video!!!

He wanted to sit down the whole time we were trying to take his pictures. Look at this happy, goofy boy.
That happy face tells it all. Dakota is happiest in this world when he has a canine friend to romp with and a human to tell him what a good boy he is. He's a young fellow of only about a year. He loves people and loves to give them love and affection. He's a hugger so be prepared! He doesn't have full control of those long floppy legs and will get himself tripped up, but he sure does put them to good use when he's running around playing. He's an active boy that likes to hang out beside your chair at night. He's doing well with his housetraining, but needs reminders to go out. He hasn't mastered asking to go out, but he knows what to do once he's out there.
Dakota wouldn't intentionally harm anyone, but his goofy antics while playing could accidentally knock a very small toddler over. He doesn't realize just how big he is and doesn't realize he shouldn't jump up on just anyone. He's learning quickly though that if he wants attention from his humans, he has to sit quietly and be calm. He's very motivated so he's a quick learner!
Dakota will do best with an active family that has lots of love to give and a little bit of patience to teach him what humans didn't teach him as a very young puppy. He still needs to learn a few house manners, but for extra love he'll be a very willing student!
Foster update - 10.20
I keep meaning to get pictures of him, but it gets so dark so early! The lights inside the house make the pictures look dark (darn those energy savers!). But I’m on a mission to get them tonight!
As for placement… Family definitely. He is a LOVER. He’ll jump up on you, wrap his front legs around you and put his head on your shoulder like a baby. He jumps though and he’s floppy so he’d knock over a toddler. He’d have absolutely no intention of hurting a child, just accidentally knocking them over. He loves to be outside playing more than anything. So a home with another playful dog would be a super big plus in his eyes. He plays with anyone that’ll play with him. He’s fine with humans taking his food away from him, but he’ll try to steal another dog’s food. Even though he gets all he wants to eat, he will act starved whenever food is around. You’d think that we don’t feed him… We have him on 5 cups of puppy food per day, plus lots of doggie biscuits. I think he gets the Hoover instinct from when he was so severely underweight he still doesn’t realize that he’ll never go hungry! He’s finally a healthy weight though, but he’s active. If there’s someone that wants a hiking or running dog he’s a great partner. He doesn’t have good leash skills yet, but he’d have no problem keeping up with someone stamina wise.
So a playful, active, patient (cuz he still has puppy manners, but he’s improved A LOT!), affection loving family would be nice for him.
From his foster We've named him Dakota and he's such a sweet guy. Sweet in a different way than Sugar. Shy, yes, my oh my he's shy. But he'll wag his whole body and come up to you -- just short of you being able to reach him. He doesn't seem like he's been abused, just not well socialized with strangers, but it only takes a minute for him to be kissing your hand. He loves the other dogs too. Playful and floppy. Boy he's a young one... long legs and young. I'll get pictures and a video soon. He needs to gain weight. We're feeding him 4 cups in the AM and then 4 in the PM. He's a nibbler, but he'll eat it all.
We have to really cheer him on for him to come inside!... he's probably been a yard dog and won't come through the back door, but we're working on him. Our dogs look at him like -- "What's the problem?" --- these are my dogs that don't think their fannies should sit on anything that isn't upholstered! lol.
