The Vol who picked them had this to say..... They were super affectionate and very happy and also very laid back. They were angels in the car and just laid down and looked out the window. They didn't pull on their leashes so I was easily able to hold both leashes in one hand. Wonderful pups that will make someone very happy. The Story of Limo and Hummer On Monday, May 9, 2011, animal control responded to a residence in Duluth with the Fire Department in reference to a gentleman that needed assistance. The fire department transported him to GMC in Duluth and we picked up three dogs, two big, youngish yellow lab mixes and an elderly small dog. The elderly dog passed away in his pen from unknown causes, most likely a heart attack from the extreme stress. The two big dogs are happy and healthy and living in the shelter. After six days with no further contact from these guys human family, I broke out my rusty investigative skills and attempted to determine what happened to the owner. After several telephone calls and several hours, I eventually discovered that the man had passed away in the ER. He lived alone in the home with his dogs, as his wife had passed away two years earlier. No family members have come forward to claim these dogs. These two guys are wonderful, happy, apparently healthy dogs who need a good forever home. When we took them outside for the first time after coming in to the shelter, they were ecstatic to see each other. The bigger dog is definitely the leader of the two, as the smaller one follows him around like a long lost brother. Unfortunately there are no pens here big enough for them to live in the same run comfortably. They see each other when the officers take them out for some sunshine and they greet each other with such happiness, it would make you cry! We would love for these two to go home with someone who will keep them together. They are perfectly mannered and they appeared potty trained, although it is hard to tell in a shelter environment. We do not want to put them down, we really want them to spend the remainder of their days together sitting on a front porch somewhere. Please share this e-mail with anyone who you think could provide a good home for them. There will be no adoption fee and we will neuter them, microchip them, and vaccinate them here at the shelter at no cost to their new family. Doesnt your porch need two big boy dogs? |
