Foster Update ~
Just wanted to let you know that Spunky is doing fine! She is such a darling, but her name doesn't suit her :( She's so very calm. She doesn't play fetch or tug-of-war; she just wants to be petted ;) She snuck under our fence this morning (I've blocked the gap now- clever girl!), but a neighbor held onto her for me, and also commented on just how sweet & calm she is.
Spunky is her REAL name. How do we know? We inquired about her, and the ACO commented on what a gorgeous, sweet girl she was. Her owners were contacted and the ACO held her for them, but they never bothered to reclaim her! And while they did NOT come from the same home, Spunky and Duke came from the same shelter where they had an ACO championing their cause and singing their praises.
He even took both Spunky and Duke out together for a walk around the pond behind their building just prior to our Vol picking them up - they were so happy to be on a walk and enjoyed being together. Amazing what a little love, compassion and caring will do. Amazing what a man who has known them less than a week can inspire in them with a simple act of kindness.
Her family's loss is now our gain - welcome Spunky!
