Our Vet named this cuddler Garrett because by definition it means brave. Garrett is a young male yellow lab mix, who was found chained within an inch of his life, without food, water or shelter in rural Elbert County. The last picture of him is his shelter photo... count every rib...its horrible to think of what he has endured in his short lifetime; humbling to realize he doesn't hold it against humans. He laid down and wiggled in delight the day our Vol rescued and finally released him from his chain.
Arriving at our Vet, he was a "28.3# DELIGHT" - (her words)...he continues to be now, but he is no longer emaciated. Social and outgoing, he thrives in the company of humans and canines alike. We remain in awe of his zest for life, the resulting spirited boy no amount of neglect could negate. Hope springs eternal and he greets each new day with enthusiasm, always looking forward, never disappointed, never looking back. It is irrelevant what the day brings, he is simply happy to be free and loved ~ content to spoon with his playmates or chase them around the yard. His tail never stops wagging - he even wags himself to sleep. Brave and beloved, all his dreams are coming true. |
