From her foster...
Kasi was found on a dirt road in Monticello, GA with one eye damaged and a place on her neck that had maggots in it. A nice man picked her up and took her home to try and save her. She was very sick and he nursed her back to health with a lot of love and food. He didn't have the resources to take her to the vet, so he asked our good friend to take her into her rescue. Kasi has been thanking her ever since and although she had been through a lot for such a young pup, she has never wavered in her love of people ~ her rescuer and her foster have been rewarded many times over.
Kasi's left eye was beyond saving. She had surgery to remove it on June 23rd, and it's healing very nicely. When she gets excited, at times, she would still appear as if she couldn't see well although her right eye appeared to be perfectly normal, so we took her to an eye specialist. Her right eye IS fine and she can see. We don't know why she acts like she can't see clearly when overstimulated, however, as soon as she calms down, she is just fine.
She still tends to be unsure of herself somewhat and of her surroundings and it takes her a while before she comes out of her shell, but once she is out of her shell, she is just a typical playful mischievous puppy!!! She loves people, wants to be close to you and follows your around. A puppy shadow :) She is really beautiful and she LOVES a good belly rub! She gets along nicely with dogs and would prefer a nice laid back playmate. She is very curious about cats. She has started chasing my cat, but not in an aggressive way. She just wants to play with him.
She is solid black, head to toe, about 4 months old, spayed and up to date on all her shots.
Ideally, Kasi would thrive in an environment that is relaxed and less chaotic. Preferably, a quieter home where she can flourish and acquaint herself at her own pace to gain her confidence. She would also like a couple nice dogs to play with and a big yard to call her own. Her new family would still have to introduce new people and dogs to her slowly. Too much, too fast has a tendency to overwhelm her. She is not completely house trained yet, but she can go for about 4 hours without an accident. Pretty much on her way! She is also crate trained. As soon as she hears me open the bag of treats, she goes right in her crate :-) She's a Smart Cookie for a cookie! :)
