| Ranger to the rescue - literally (and figuratively). Generally speaking its the other way around, but this lovely Golden mix is the hero in this story. His 'tail' goes something like this: Ranger wound up in a shelter - he's the patient sort and bided his time, waiting...we were alerted and shortly thereafter, his gracious caretakers summoned his arrival! We met him and were charmed - what's not to love? A few days into his vetting, we received a call and collectively held our breathe...instead it was an urgent request, an authorization actually. Ranger was needed to save a life. More aptly, his blood was required to save a Sheltie who was deemed critical. Ranger was immediately prepped and gave LIFE - she survived. What a heroic, selfless boy we have - in too many eyes he's nothing more than a commonplace shelter dog, a throwaway...but Ranger is our HERO. Whether he realizes it or not is moot - but he will feel it. The level and lengths we will go to to reinforce how much we cherish him, how truly special he is will likely pale in comparison to his efforts, but we are equally as determined.
