Meet year old black lab Shasta and her 10 mos. old partner in crime yellow lab Misty the other half of this dynamic duo. These girls are carbon copies of one another, both are diminutive and elegant and are scaled down versions of your larger standard labrador. ALR originally pulled them on behalf of a Northern rescue and after a solid month in the Carroll Cty Shelter, you can bet both girls were just giddy to be rescued! In the days immediately following, they were Vetted and prepped for transport and the ride of their lives. Whoo Hoo!!!

Oh the simple joy of the car and the rush of the wind, the ride to meet their transport lulled them to sleep. Upon arrival, a wonderful, caring man greeted us and the girls were met with a hearty belly scratch - and summarily introduced to Oliver (ALR Senior Alum catching a ride to his forever home in NY : ). We were growing teary eyed at the prospect of sending them North when rather abruptly both girls decided they'd rather be Georgia peaches than NY apples!

With heads out the window and ears flapping (the proper canine 'wave' goodbye) they bid the transport and NY adieu. Sensing a celebratory treat was in order, a drive thru beckoned and Chick-Fil-A was enjoyed all around! Tummies sated, next up a day of beauty ensued ~ bathed with ease, Misty garnered a gold star. Not to be outdone, Shasta, taking in all her admirers, satisfied herself by sitting pretty - earning herself an A+ !!.

Later, surrounded by labby lovers, Misty and Shasta settled in at the office for the balance of the day. Both girls got along famously with our resident temperament testers (2 labs and a Golden) and set out to explore the unfamiliar. With little trepidation, Shasta burst onto the scene and sought out the first thing that caught her eye. Tennis ball. And then the next, Stuffed Badger. On and on until she had mouthed every toy in the office - intent on fitting them all in at once! Misty, on the other hand, was a bit more hesitant - she's tentative but inquisitive and seemed to be taking stock of the situation. A sensitive girl who eases in at her own pace - she sought out each individual, sat just within petting distance of their desk and waited. Charmed, we knelt down for a hug and received a paw and kiss in return. Few are as sweet. Eventually, the lure of Shasta was irresistible to her, play bows began and we received our first signal - happy chortles erupted from each.

Neither Shasta or Misty presently have fosters and although we've arranged to board them in their own bachelorette suite replete with Kurundas and plenty of toys, we expect they are dreaming of the finer things in life and hoping to be indulged once again. If you can open your home and heart to either, whether through foster or adopt, they would be forever grateful and so would we.
